It is possible to carry our Thermohair Socks and Insoles in your stores.  Please call us at 1-877-766-4247 or e-mail
[email protected] to receive our wholesale package information. For small villages and towns, we usually only have one store to cover the area.  In larger towns and cities, we can have multiple stores, depending on population densities, but we do try to make sure stores are not in close proximity to each other.  Note that wholesale account shipping rates are different than what is advertised on this retail based website.

What is Kid Mohair?
Kid Mohair is the hair sheared from the first 2 shearings of the young Angora Goats. It is not a wool.  It is known for its softness, strength and warmth. Mohair is sometimes referred to as the “diamond fiber”, since it is luxurious as well as strong enough to wear out steel.  This material is in both our original blend and our merino blend socks.

What is Merino Wool?
Merino Wool is the wool sheared from Merino Sheep.  We use the washable kind of Merino wool for our Merino Blend Thermohair socks.  Only socks with the blue label will contain Merino Wool.  If you have wool allergies, we recommend using our original blend of Thermohair socks.

What are the washing directions for all styles of Thermohair Socks?
To care for your pair(s) of Thermohair Socks, it is recommended to machine wash them using a warm or cold setting for maximum 8 minute wash cycle, and right side out. Hang to dry.  If you have a front loading washer, please use the delicate cycle and place the socks in a washable laundry bag. Although, front loading washers are energy efficient, some of them can cause excess friction against other garments.  This is also true for our Merino Wool blended socks.

What are the washing directions for Throws and Blankets?
For all of these products, we recommend using the delicate cycle on your washing machine.  The temperature can be warm or cold, but not hot.  Timing is also important when washing these products. We recommend that the washing cycle be timed for 4 minutes. Then hang them to dry. Fluff in the dryer for 10 minutes on the lowest setting.  Only wash in a top loader washing machine.  Do not wash in a front loader washing machine. Throws and Blankets have been discontinued.

What are the washing directions for mitt liners?
Washing directions for mitt liners are the same as with our Thermohair Socks.  Wash them in warm or cold water and hang them to dry.

What are the washing directions for polar fleece mitts?
The inside liners can be washed the same as our Thermohair socks.  Wash them in warm or cold water and hang them to dry.  To clean the polar fleece outer mitt you will need to hand wash them and hang them to dry.

What are the washing directions for leather mitts?
The inside liners can be washed the same as our Thermohair socks.  Wash them in warm or cold water and hang them to dry.  To clean the leather outer mitt, wipe with a damp cloth or with leather cleaner.

What are the washing directions for insoles?
Hand washing is required for insoles.  Then lay them flat to dry (not over a heat vent).

What are the washing directions for toques and scarves?
Hand washing is required for toques and scarves.  Due to the loose knitting of these products, we do not recommend washing machines or dryers.

What is the fiber content in the Original Thermohair Socks, Toques and Mitt Liners?
The yarn starts as 75% Kid Mohair and 25% Nylon before knitting.  The loops you feel inside the sock are the 75% / 25% blend, however, nylon is added to the outside to allow for elasticity.  This slightly reduces the Kid Mohair content for the total product.

What is the fiber content in the Merino Blend Socks?
The merino/mohair yarn blend is 43% kid mohair, 41% merino wool and 16% nylon.  Nylon is added to the outside to allow for elasticity.

Why is Nylon added to Thermohair Socks, Toques and Mitt Liners?
Nylon is used for stretch only.  Mohair is known for its warmth, strength and durability.

Are the Thermohair Socks, Toques or Mitts itchy/scratchy?
Since we use the Kid Mohair, most people do not find them to be itchy or scratchy. Usually, as the goat ages, the hair coat becomes coarser. Kid Mohair is the finest and most expensive of the mohair grades, and is naturally soft with the feel cashmere, but the strength of mohair.  If you are using our Merino Blend socks, they are designed for softness and comfort, but you may find itchiness or scratchiness if you have a wool allergy.  Our Merino Blend socks are in a blue label.  Our other products should not affect people with wool allergies.

Are the goats harmed when making Thermohair products?
The goats are sheared every six months, similar to a person getting a haircut. No harm occurs to the animal.

If I have an allergy to wool, can I wear mohair socks and toques?
Since mohair is off the Angora Goat and not a sheep, the fiber is completely different to wool.  Most people that have allergies to wool can wear Thermohair Socks and Thermohair Toques. There is no wool content in our Original Blend Thermohair Socks or Thermohair Toques. However there are some people who are allergic to mohair, and some are allergic to both.  Note, that we do have a Merino Wool Blended sock which comes in a blue label.  If you have a wool allergy, we recommend ordering our original blended sock instead of the Merino Wool blend.

If I have an allergy to wool, can I use a throw or blanket?
Since we use 50% Mohair and 50% Merino Wool, you will probably react to the wool content in these products.  This product has been discontinued.

If I have an allergy to wool, can I use the insoles?
If your skin is in direct contact with the insoles you will experience an allergic reaction. If you are wearing a protective layer of fabric, such as a sock, you will probably be OK.

I have diabetes or poor circulation problems, can I wear Thermohair Socks?
We have made a therapeutic line of socks with no elastic cuff that help people with diabetes or poor circulation problems.  Colours are limited to natural white or grey (natural colour on inside) since some people with these conditions can react to coloured dye.
