If I own a store, can I carry your products? It is possible to carry our Thermohair Socks in your stores. Please call us at 1-877-766-4247 or e-mail jeremy@thermohair.com to receive our wholesale package information. For small villages and towns, we usually only have one store to cover the area. In larger towns and cities, we can have multiple stores, depending on population densities, but we do try to make sure stores are not in close proximity to each other.
What is Kid Mohair? Kid Mohair is the hair sheared from the first 2 shearings of the young Angora Goats. It is not a wool. It is known for its softness, strength and warmth. Mohair is sometimes referred to as the “diamond fiber”, since it is luxurious as well as strong enough to wear out steel.
What are the washing directions for Thermohair Socks? To care for your pair(s) of Thermohair Socks, it is recommended to machine wash them using a warm or cold setting for maximum 8 minute wash cycle, and right side out. Hang to dry.
What are the washing directions for Children’s (Toddler) Socks? The washing directions are the same as our regular Thermohair Socks.
What are the washing directions for Shawls, Throws and Blankets? For all of these products, we recommend using the delicate cycle on your washing machine. The temperature can be warm or cold, but not hot. Timing is also important when washing these products. We recommend that the washing cycle be timed for 4 minutes. Then hang them to dry. Fluff in the dryer for 10 minutes on low setting
What are the washing directions for mitt liners? Washing directions for mitt liners are the same as with our Thermohair Socks. Wash them in warm or cold water and hang them to dry.
What are the washing directions for polar fleece mitts? The inside liners can be washed the same as our Thermohair socks. Wash them in warm or cold water and hang them to dry. To clean the polar fleece outer mitt you will need to hand wash them and hang them to dry.
What are the washing directions for leather mitts? The inside liners can be washed the same as our Thermohair socks. Wash them in warm or cold water and hang them to dry. To clean the leather outer mitt, wipe with a damp cloth or with leather cleaner.
What are the washing directions for insoles? Hand washing is required for insoles. Then lay them flat to dry (not over a heat vent).
How are Thermohair Socks sized? We size our socks by North American shoe size. Children Toddler Socks are size 12 to 4. Men’s Small are size 6 to 7, Men’s Medium are size 8 to 10, Men’s Large are size 11 to 12 and Men’s Extra Large are size 13 to 14. Ladies Small are size 5 to 6, Ladies Medium are size 7 to 9, Ladies Large are size 10 to 12. If your shoe is at the higher end of each size, we recommend going to the next size up if you have wide feet.
What are the difference between anklets and full sized socks? Anklets have the ribbing around the ankle. The full sock will pull up to about mid-calf.
How are insoles sized? We have from ladies shoe sizes 5 to 10 and men sizes 6 to 12.
How are Polar Fleece mitts and mitt liners sized? Mitts are sized based on the inches from wrist to the top of your middle finger. 6 inches would be a small, 6-1/2 inches would be a medium, 7-1/2 inches would be a large, 7-1/2 inches with a wide hand would be an extra large, 8-1/2 inches would be a double extra large.
How are Leather mitts sized? Mitts are sized based on the inches from wrist to the top of your middle finger. 6-1/2 inches would be a small, 7 inches would be a medium, 8 inches would be a large, 8-1/2 inches be an extra large.
What is the fiber content in insoles? There is 60% Mohair and 40% Wool in the insoles.
What is the fiber content in Shawls, Throws and Blankets? 50% Kid Mohair and 50% Merino Wool.
What is the fiber content in Children’s socks? There is 75% Kid Mohair, 23% Nylon and 2% Spandex. The spandex allows the sock to grow with the child.
What is the fiber content in Thermohair Socks, Toques and Mitt Liners? There is 75% Kid Mohair and 25% Nylon in these products.
Why is Nylon added to Thermohair Socks, Toques and Mitt Liners? Nylon is used for stretch only. Mohair is known for its warmth, strength and durability.
Are the Thermohair Socks, Toques or Mitts itchy/scratchy? Since we use the Kid Mohair, most people do not find them to be itchy or scratchy. Usually, as the goat ages, the hair coat becomes coarser. Kid Mohair is the finest and most expensive of the mohair grades, and is naturally soft with the feel cashmere, but the strength of mohair.
Are the goats harmed when making Thermohair products? The goats are sheared every six months, similar to a person getting a haircut. No harm occurs to the animal.
If I have an allergy to wool, can I wear mohair socks and toques? Since mohair is off the Angora Goat and not a sheep, the fiber is completely different to wool. Most people that have allergies to wool can wear Thermohair Socks and Thermohair Toques. There is no wool content in Thermohair Socks or Thermohair Toques. However there are some people who are allergic to mohair, and some are allergic to both.
If I have an allergy to wool, can I use a shawl, throw or blanket? Since we use 50% Mohair and 50% Merino Wool, you will probably react to the wool content in these products.
If I have an allergy to wool, can I use the insoles? If your skin is in direct contact with the insoles you will experience an allergic reaction. If you are wearing a protective layer of fabric, such as a sock, you will probably be OK.
I have diabetes or poor circulation problems, can I wear Thermohair Socks? We have made a therapeutic line of socks with no elastic cuff that help people with diabetes or poor circulation problems. Colours are limited to natural white or grey (natural colour on inside) since some people with these conditions can react to coloured dye.
